This is a sturdy katana, thicker than most blades used for tatami cutting. It is alo heavier and takes some practice to get used to, but when you are used to it, it slices through tatami mats like it is air! Very happy with it, so far no bend in it, while thinner blade katanas in use need work when hitting tatami the wrong way.

Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. Displayed on my living room wall with the others and looks like a monster in comparison. The extra long tsuka with the leather wrapping is beautiful and feels good in the hands. I usualy love cold steel knives. This katana arrived a bit sub standard. There are rust spots about 2 inches long on the face of the blade. Also on the spine at about the center point on the blade there is a 3 inch rust spot. Most of the length of the blade was dull except for the tip. It appears as if the katana had been stored for a very long time or handled much before it was sold to me. I will however keep it and attempt to buff out the rust then sharpen.

This sword is a beautiful sword, and such a bargain. The Tsuba (hand guard) is absolutely gorgeous, the pommel is secured tightly, and the sword is extremely well balanced. One of the strongest blades I won that isn't truly Damascus steel, but is very close to the strength of such. This blade has a good weight to it, which makes it very easy to cut through many things given it has a sharp edge, which mine does. Not going to lie I expect this to be a complete s*** of a blade. Meaning like the cheap ones you get, were the blade rattles, you can remove everything with a single bolt, welded together on some little piece of metal, duller than a butter knife, rusty, easily bend, etc. This has been everything that but that, I was SHOCKED! Put together properly, not a single rattle sound, blade fit into the sheath, has a smooth unsheathing to it as well. Taking it apart was a little tough to how tightly the handle was fitted, which is good.The blade held up well against my friend's $1k Bungei sword, yes I compared a cheap Amazon sword to the glory of Bungei scream at me all you want.

The sword is oilde not too light not too thick, its edge is not as sharp as it could be but is still battle ready, I'd suggest getting a wet stone to sharpen. The steel is a modern way of recreating Damascus steel so it is Damascus steel in a way. The sword is pretty well balanced and its only flaw is the handle isn't as pretty but with looking at it more thoroughly its very sturdy. No katana is meant for cutting tree limbs as no sword should be used as such, the metal is long so it will bend if hit against something its not meant for. Although bamboo is tougher its also hollow. Don't forget to oil it every once in a while as it is a metal that can rust. Treat ur sword with respect and proper use and it will last. It is in fact a great sword and I'm still loving it.

First off pictures don't do this sword justice. This is a beautiful Katana. The blade is super sharp and nothing on the sword looks or feels cheap. It arrived 4 days earlier than expected. Over all I think it's a good buy for the price

I just received my sword today in the mail I was super excited to get it, it seemed very well balanced and has a nice weight to it. The blade was nice and sharp to begin with and a very beautiful blade. Feels nice in my hands too.

The sword is everything I expected it to be. It came sharp but I sharpened it to what it should be and just tapping the blade causes a good gash. I dropped a steak on it and it cut right through it like a knife through butter after I sharpened it. But just using it out of the box I was able to cut through a rolled up carpet. So all in all it is an excellent blade.

Believe me...it's an outstanding sword... Worthy in every way. I've tried several other products (all more expensive), but this one is exceptional. In some months I will look for the Emperor sword. I'm just afraid of paying more forthe same or less quality.

wellll, it's not perfect. they never are. i do not expect perfection for 320 bux. the blade has 2 or 3 small blemishes, little scratches or marks. not a big deal. if i use it a few times, i will do worse. for the most part, it looks like it has never been used. quite happy with this purchase.this is the 2nd smallest of the set. the spring sakura is the smallest(and my favorite), the other two are pretty beastly, and unwieldy. i have not bent any of them yet, and they clean up pretty easily (stay off the mirror finish part when rubbing, i accidentally dulled a few inches of mine on one of the other swords). behold, the whole dragon king 4 seasons set...

I have many Katanas and this one is my absolute favorite of all in this price ranage; and note it is a great value and should cost far more. Everything is real and it is truly combat ready. Beautiful in its simplicity. Magnificient piece of work. I bought another. Great feel. Buy! You will not be disipointed; don't try and save $20-$40 on a far lessor sword, once you hold this one you will be glad you didn't go cheap.

The only drawback to the sword is it's not very sharp.I did buy a knife sharpener and used it for this blade and when done I wiped the blade down cut through the rag with scary ease.So sharpening the blade is the only thing I recommend.

It's a sturdy sword. I was planning on buying the nodachi because it's heavier, but this one's weight is enough to swing it with one hand. It came as advertised, and the blade was covered with grease (is this the word?) wich is nice so it won't rust.

Another masterpiece from Shinwa, Well made with craftsmanship that is truly impressive. Solid and very durable with a razor sharp edge that holds up. Damascus living up to its reputation. The cost to value ratio is way off on this "ninja to" and is worth a great deal more. The memories from "Enter The Ninja" back in the 80s made my buying mind up.
